In our Pride episode we caught up with Auggie Rodriguez and Hugo Escobar who are on the board of directors for the Bisexual and Queer Alliance Chicago, a non-profit that aims to educate and provide social gatherings for bi and queer individuals of all gender identities. Due to their largely online based social and educational events, BQAC is accessible to people all over the country and world. Don't forget to check out our Pride episode with BQAC.
Here's a little more about who BQAC is and where you can find more information.
Bisexual Queer Alliance Chicago (BQAC) About Us:
Founded on October 16th, 2010 by Brother Michael Oboza and Ed Negron. In 2014, BQAC will become a 501(c)3 non for profit. In 2016, MAP’s Invisible Majority Report on bi+ disparities was published. BQAC along with Bisexual Organizing Project (MN), Bi Resource Center (Boston), Los Angeles Bi Task Force, & BiNetUSA were the bi orgs that contributed to this report. In 2019, BQAC’s board members would have their first retreat for a strategic vision in order to serve our community with more efficiency and outreach. In 2020, our board member Auggie Rodriguez would create a documentary about our first 10 years of history as an organization shown at our 10th anniversary GALA via zoom due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Today, BQAC continues to educate and empower and provide resources to bisexual and queer persons through programming, educational seminars and partnerships with other non for profit organizations.
BQAC's Mission:
It is BQAC’s mission to educate, empower, and provide resources for bisexual and queer persons. We aim to do this by directly educating the bisexual and queer communities along with the general public, creating awareness of bisexual and queer issues, amassing and disseminating resources and information, and through charitable acts to the bisexual and queer community.
